An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior Middle & Back Office professional to join a Single Family Office based in West London. The family office has been established in London for a number of years with an investment team looking after the family’s assets. They are a very active family still running their operating businesses.
This is an important and diverse role covering all aspects of back/middle office with the main emphasis of taking full responsibility for the operational management and oversight of the portfolio. This is a great long term career opportunity in an environment that welcomes people who are dedicated and prepared to go the extra mile to get the job done at the highest standard and on time.
The successful candidate will have seven or more years of experience, be meticulous and detail oriented, ensuring that errors in trade executions, portfolios and accounts are spotted and corrected.
Investments in the portfolio are multi asset, including, but not limited to, single stocks, ETFs, fixed income strategies, derivatives and currency trades, long only funds, bonds, hedge funds, PE/VC funds, private deals, etc.
There is not a high turnover portfolio with a low number trades executed and the expectations are for the highest level of accuracy, ensuring reporting is kept fully up to date, accurately reflecting the exact positions held in the portfolio.
Responsibilities will include:
- Next day trade checking and reconciliation, generally being the first person in the office to ensure that this is done as a priority.
- Performing NAV calculations.
- Real time valuations using Bloomberg (excel reporting system is linked to Bloomberg so market prices are kept updated in real time).
- Reconciliations (make sure all booked correctly), Breaks and corrections being done as a priority (as above).
- Need to be able to navigate the file and take responsibility for document management (both physical and digital files of all documents related to the portfolio).
- General Back Office duties – this is not onerous as there tends to be a low trading volume.
- Generating portfolio reports with regional, currency, industries, etc… exposures.
- Ensuring correct reflection of positions, cash and trades in the portfolio management and reporting system.
- Liaising with Funds and ETF providers and verifying share classes, jurisdiction, legal structure, redemption and subscription terms.
- MUST MAKE SURE THE REPORTING FILE ACCURATELY REPRESENTS THE POSITIONS OF THE PORTFOLIO.
The candidate needs to be proficient in the use of Excel, able to understand the formulas, improve the existing portfolio spreadsheets and add to them where needed.
This position will suit someone dedicated to the role, who enjoys the monitoring, reporting and maintenance responsibility and NOT anyone seeking a springboard to the front office.
This is a small Family Office so experience in a similar environment would be ideal. They are supportive and they work closely in a tight team. For the right candidate, they will help in any development of skills and training but are looking for someone who sees this as a long-term career.
Remuneration will reflect the responsibilities of the role and the experience of the candidate and given the culture of the team pulling together, the discretionary bonus tends to be good, especially for this sort of position.
Salary: £65,000-£70,000.
