An exciting opportunity has become available within an established Single Family Office, with a history of sector agnostic investing in mainly unlisted but also listed companies. Companies are targeted in an opportunistic way and can be at various stages of development but chosen on the grounds that they can make a positive difference to the long-term performance of the various businesses.

Investment Associate with experience at a single family office or in a corporate development role to join the investment team.  Reporting directly to the Investment Director, this challenging role needs a robust, enthusiastic, well organized person, who is an excellent communicator and can get up to speed very quickly. The successful candidate must have strong experience of reviewing potential investments from a commercial and financial perspective and be comfortable in making recommendations to senior management.  In addition, they will need to track performance across the investment portfolio and engage with portfolio companies to help drive performance.

Duties include:

Deal review

  • Conduct financial and commercial due diligence on potential investments, making recommendations and identifying and presenting key risks, reviewing financial projection and valuations
  • Project manage the deal process
  • Own production of investment papers for the IC
  • Support the Investment director and CEO in executing transactions, taking the lead on negotiating commercial terms for some deals
  • Ensure deal execution is well controlled and deal terms are understood by all internal stakeholders

Performance Management

  • Track performance of portfolio companies to support regular Board and IC reporting
  • Challenge portfolio companies to deliver against key milestones
  • Work closely with the accounting and investment teams to ensure investments are recorded correctly and valuations are regularly reviewed and updated within the portfolio management system (Addepar)
  • Become the super user for the new investment monitoring system (Addepar)
  • Own the annual portfolio valuation review exercise to support the group audit
  • Review and update portfolio valuations at revaluation trigger points
  • Track news flow on listed investments and share with the rest of the team

Other

  • Work closely with the finance and investment teams to analyse regular processes and make recommendations for improvement
  • Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence and valuation comps
  • Support portfolio companies on an ad hoc basis (e.g. fundraising, financial planning and deal execution)
  • Work closely with the legal and tax teams

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience, including working within an investment organisation
  • Accountancy or similar financial qualification
  • Strong Excel skills

Personality and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable dealing with executive-level management

Package: Flexible depending on experience but expected to be circa £55,000 to £75,000 per annum
