An established Private Family Office in London is looking to recruit a Finance Director to join their team. The Family Office has a track record of sector agnostic investing in mainly unlisted but also listed companies where they can bring their own expertise and add value to the businesses.

They are seeking an established Finance Director who has experience of working in a private investment company/Family Office and who wants to work in an interesting, dynamic and international environment. They will report to the CEO and primarily manage the Finance Team which in turn supports the investment team, associated companies and runs the family office.  They will also have direct responsibility for managing Tax and Treasury functions, so knowledge and practical experience of both areas is a distinct advantage.

As a member of the senior team, they will attend investment committee and board meetings and work directly on family office matters with the Principal from time to time.

Duties include:

  • Leading and developing the finance team
  • Responsibility for timely production of management and statutory accounting information
  • Working with the investment team, legal, tax and others in structuring the Family Office, associated companies and the portfolio investments in the most efficient way
  • Management of external regulatory reporting matters
  • Oversight of both tax and treasury functions
  • Providing management support to majority/wholly owned investments
  • Overseeing relationships with advisers across the group
  • Management of payroll and benefits

Core Requirements:

  • A strong track record post qualified with experience of working in a private company
  • Strong understanding of internal control and finance systems
  • Understanding of tax compliance, planning and structuring
  • Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
  • Ideally Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics background to degree level
  • Qualified accountant
  • Good business acumen

Personality and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to look ahead and plan
  • Experience of working and communicating with and presenting to, senior executives
  • A strong, demonstrable interest in investing

Package: Flexible depending on experience but expected to be circa £150,000 to £175,000 per annum with bonus and benefits
