The Role

A brand new role within a Single Family Office has just opened for a Qualified Accountant. The right candidate will ideally have some experience within a small unincorporated enterprise or running country estates/agricultural (arable) businesses.

 IT skills required

  • Sage 50 accounts
  • Microsoft including Excel, Word, use of Outlook

Key responsibilities

  • All aspects of bookkeeping for the operations as a whole based over two locations in the Midlands and North of England
    • One Limited Company (arable farming and one rental property)
    • A private estate and an unincorporated, farming, shooting and property rental business
  • Some limited travel from London to the Midlands and North of England will be required.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements (with external third-party accountancy firm), quarterly and monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of a set of rental accounts extracted from the full accounts.
  • Preparation of annual budgets, cashflow forecasts and business plans.
  • Inter-entity reconciliations.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register

Employees / Payroll / HR

  • Monthly payroll – preparation of figures for processing by the payroll bureau, payments to employees.
  • Annual payroll – including working with the payroll bureau regarding p11d, p60s etc
  • Annual review of compensation
  • Auto-enrolment pensions – dealing with new joiners, opt ins, opt outs, re-enrolment.

Business and site management

  • Working with 3rd party agents: Midlands (arable farming and shooting); North of England (estate management agent and shooting agent) in connection with the smooth running of the estates.
  • Attendance at monthly meetings with the third party agents – following up agenda points etc.

Other aspects of responsibility

  • Creditors and Suppliers – Approval, processing, payment and filing of creditor invoices.
  • Debtor management
  • Management of the Estate/companies Banking
  • Oversight of the Arable contract farming
  • Accounting for Shooting activities incorporated into the overall business
  • Governance
  • Insurance
  • Tax compliance
  • VAT compliance
  • Oversight of Property management including refurbishment projects
  • Vehicles – fleet management; insurance, repairs, general management, etc.
  • Inheritance Tax planning

 Salary – Dependant on experience
