An exclusive opportunity has arisen within a small, London based Single Family Office that is seeking a COO /CFO to manage the personal, financial and business affairs of the Principal, his children and their related entities. Reporting directly to the Principal, the COO will provide high-touch service to the Principal and his family across a broad range of responsibilities.
Leading by example, they will oversee the day-to-day operations of the family office and will take responsibility of the relationships with all external advisors and service providers, ensuring that all their services are provided in a high-quality and cost- effective manner. They will possess strong leadership and communication skills, a strong work ethic with a “roll up your sleeves” style, coupled with high emotional intelligence and the utmost integrity, as they will be the direct trusted guide and protector of the Principal and their interests. By attentively listening, exercising discretion, and maintaining confidences, they will instil confidence over time, allowing them to become a trusted advisor to the Principal and his family and acting as his deputy.
The Principal is a non-dom living in London where he owns a property, currently undergoing complete refurbishment. He is a multi-layer businessman working in half a dozen countries in a variety of businesses. Due to his extensive network and entrepreneurial nature, he is asked to participate in many projects and the COO/CFO will offer advice and support on the acceptance or rejection of offers to participate.
Profile of the successful candidate:
- Must have experience working with trusts, family offices, and offshore structures
- Someone with an accounting background but who will quickly become a generalist
- Someone with gravitas, cost conscious
- Based in office in London but flexible to travel globally if required
- A “fire-fighter” – needs to be solutions-orientated and knowledgeable of how to handle any “mopping up” exercises from business or personal activities
- Grounded, hard-working, jack-of-all-trades, able to wear numerous hats simultaneously
- Roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty
Duties:
- Taking care of the admin-side of the Principal’s life and businesses and bureaucracy
- Be the voice of the Principal with lawyers, accountants, auditors, trustees, investment partners, etc.
- Liaising with asset managers and making sure incoming funds are pre-cleared
- Managing payables, budget oversight, investments
- Undertaking due diligence of new opportunities – reviewing all commercial contracts and agreements, completing necessary paperwork
- Keeping the Principal abreast of his worldwide financial positions, cashflow needs
i.e. he is currently refurbishing his London property and clean capital needs to be brought onshore to pay for this, so will need to ensure the chain of activity behind this are in place - Managing the day-to-day requirements of the businesses
- Working with the Principal on strategy and budget
- Working with Directors of the variously held businesses in all jurisdictions.
- Have oversight of asset disposal which might include businesses or properties.
- Overseeing audit process for held companies and liaise with external accountants who currently undertake audits and file the tax returns.
- All the above to include coverage of interests in multiple jurisdictions.
- Directly oversee operations including the HR function, to include:
- Recruitment process – office staff only.
(For household staff, which are currently employed through a limited company, Arrange the contracts, payroll and handle any disputes - Drafting employment contracts with the external employment lawyers
- Onboarding employees
- Resolving employee disputes with the external employment lawyers

This role will suit someone who is energetic and responsive to the broad and ever changing duties of this demanding role. The Principal will rely on the COO/CFO to run the administration of his life and his investments, becoming his “Right Hand” person in all his activities. It will be both demanding and rewarding.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the duties and demands of the role and will likely be in the region of £125,000 to £150,000 plus a discretionary bonus.
