A well-established Singapore-based Single-Family Office representing a prominent multi-generational family is seeking a seasoned and strategic Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead its global investment function.
With approximately USD 500 million in assets under management, the Family Office oversees a diversified portfolio spanning public markets, private equity, venture capital, real assets, and a number of closely held operating businesses. The Principal is focused on long-term capital preservation, disciplined growth, and institutional-quality governance.
The CIO will assume full responsibility for the design and execution of the investment strategy and capital allocation framework. In addition, this role carries a unique corporate dimension, with exposure to board-level participation across select portfolio companies and operating entities. This is a high-impact leadership position offering significant autonomy, strategic influence, and direct engagement with the Principal.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Develop and implement the Family Office’s overall investment strategy, aligned with the Principal’s objectives, risk appetite, and long-term horizon
- Design and manage a diversified, multi-asset portfolio across public markets, alternatives, private equity, venture capital, real assets, and direct investments
- Lead portfolio construction, tactical allocation, and rebalancing decisions
- Continuously monitor portfolio performance, risk exposure, and liquidity profile
- Drive direct investment activity, including sourcing, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, and execution
Manager Selection & External Relationships
- Identify, evaluate, and monitor external fund managers and investment partners globally
- Negotiate mandates, fee structures, and co-investment opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with private banks, asset managers, advisors, and broader investment networks
Risk Management & Governance
- Establish and implement robust investment governance frameworks, policies, and processes
- Oversee risk management across market, credit, liquidity, and concentration risks
- Ensure disciplined capital preservation and downside protection strategies
- Deliver clear, high-quality reporting and transparency to the Principal and relevant stakeholders
Corporate Oversight & Strategic Involvement
- Represent the Family Office at the board level of selected portfolio companies and affiliated entities
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance to operating businesses, working closely with CEOs and management teams
- Support capital allocation decisions, growth initiatives, restructurings, and strategic transactions
- Ensure alignment between corporate strategy and broader family investment objectives
Market Research & Investment Insights
- Maintain strong conviction-led views on global macro trends, monetary policy, and key market drivers
- Identify emerging sectors, themes, and geographies for future investment
- Contribute forward-looking insights to inform portfolio positioning and strategic decisions
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the internal investment team
- Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and long-term thinking
- Coordinate effectively with external advisors, consultants, and ecosystem partners
Qualifications & Experience
Background
- 12+ years of progressive experience in investment management, ideally within a Family Office, endowment, sovereign wealth fund, or institutional multi-asset environment
- Proven track record as a principal investor across multiple asset classes
- Experience managing both liquid portfolios and direct/private investments
Technical & Market Expertise
- Deep understanding of global public markets, alternatives, and private investments
- Strong capabilities in portfolio construction, asset allocation, and manager selection
- Experience leading direct investments and participating at board or strategic level is highly advantageous
Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
- High integrity, discretion, and sound judgement in a Principal-facing environment
- Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels across investments and corporate matters
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and family members
