Tayyab Mohamed is the co-founder of Agreus, a strategic recruitment partner to Family Offices. Originally from India, Tayyab embarked on his academic journey with a degree in computers before venturing to the UK to do an MBA and pursue his aspirations in investment banking. However, the timing of his graduation coincided with the tumultuous financial crisis of 2008, posing significant challenges in the job market. Despite initially securing an operational role at a top-tier bank, Tayyab’s career trajectory took an unexpected turn into the world of recruitment.
Tayyab navigated the private banking and wealth management recruitment landscape for two years, demonstrating remarkable success even during challenging market conditions, notably in the Middle Eastern market. Tayyab noticed that the ultra-high-net-worth clientele were disappointed with the banks after the financial crisis and had instead begun seeking high-calibre talent for their Family Office.
At the time, there were no other recruitment firms that specialised in the Family Office space. It was also during this time that he crossed paths with Paul Westall. Identifying the gap in the market and the immense opportunity ahead, the two founded Agreus specifically to serve the Family Office market.
A Day in the Life of Tayyab:
Tayyab’s day kicks off with the kind of disciplined routine that would make even the most seasoned gym-goer nod in approval. He usually wakes up at 5.30 am and gets a workout in before most people are even fully awake. As a CrossFit enthusiast, Tayyab trains four times a week before work. He endeavours to make health a priority by keeping his body and mind stimulated.
As he commutes to work after gym, Tayyab uses this time to catch up on financial news, emails and plans for the day. Recognising the importance of staying informed, particularly regarding matters that concern Agreus’s Family Office clients, he remains vigilant and proactive in his pursuit of knowledge.
Tayyab fuels his mornings with black coffee, setting the tone for a day brimming with energy and focus. Agreus operates across three global offices – in the UK, the US, and Singapore. Therefore, it is very important for Tayyab to balance his responsibilities across the diverse teams. He dedicates his mornings to supporting both the UK and Singapore teams, leveraging his expertise to optimise operational efficiency. That means, on arriving at the office, his day starts with a 9.00 am morning call with the UK team and is actively engaged in key decision-making processes, from addressing regular client issues to overseeing the finances and marketing, and thought leadership initiatives, ensuring Agreus remains at the forefront of the industry. In the afternoon, he then allocates more time across the pond for the US office.
Tayyab ensures Agreus is always moving closer to achieving its broader strategic vision over the long term. While delegating some of the responsibilities, he remains actively involved in client interactions and calls, meetings and fostering relationships to ensure the delivery of a high standard of service.
Beyond his role as co-founder and leader, Tayyab prioritises quality time with his family, cherishing moments spent with loved ones and finding harmony between professional pursuits and personal fulfilment. As a proud father to three kids, he spends all his free time, including the weekends, with his family.
